As the second semester of the school year begins, the chess club will kock into higher gear.
The Interscholastic tournament is set for March 7, 2007. In preparation, lesson plans will be underway in addition to club play. Our computerized tournament system, new this year, will be used as it has been the last couple of tournaments.
An in-club tournament will be held soon to determine the contingent that will represent Shrewsbury High School!
Kindest regards from all the administrators.

I'd like to remind everyone checking this website (it SHOULD be everyone) to pay their dues.
By paying dues, you can participate in the club fully (including tournaments, lessons, etc. without cost) and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that your money is going towards a worth cause. You can give any of the co-presidents the dues (that's me, Vickash, or Ajay). Furthermore, you'll be added to the e-mail list from Google Groups, which is VITAL, as it will be the link from us to you (for example, if we have to cancel chess club or announce a tournament, we'll do it via e-mail).
Rankings will go up as soon as Deba procures a comprehensive members list and we analyze performance.
Kindest regards from all the administrators.

The Chess Club is back, and Mr. Hruskoci has graciously accepted the task of acting as our supervisor yet again!
We have, once again, pretty strong membership, and I am very optimistic for this year. There's nothing better than people who love to play chess.
Remember that you can e-mail any questions to SHSChessClub@gmail.com at any time.
The agenda for this year is very extensive, including:
1. Schoolwide chess tournaments
2. Interscholastic chess tournament
3. Chess lessons
4. Blitz chess
5. Chess activities (i.e. problems)
6. In-club chess tournaments
7. And much more to come...
On that note, I hope you all remember that there's an in-club chess tournament this week! It's meant to be a fun way to get used to the club, play some chess, and get to know the other members of the club.
Kindest regards from all the administrators

With the chess club going strong, the outlook calls for more tournaments, and they ARE coming. In addition to another possible blitz tourney soon, we are prepared to send out the invitations for the Interscholastic Tournament to other schools.
This (hopefully large) tournament will be held on May 20, (that's a Saturday). Eights schools total are invited, and the setup will most likely be a double/single elimination combo or Swiss style.
Indeed, this is a big event for our emerging chess club, and will hopefully make us known not only in our own community, but also in the Worcester area. Let's make Shrewsbury Chess a tradition that our high school can be proud of!

The upcoming weeks are going to be a bit busy. We have a blitz tournament coming up in preparation for a possible interscholastic tournament in May. The top 8 from this blitz tourney will be the "Shrewsbury Team"! On top of that, officer elections will be coming up soon.
I have also added all registered members to the e-mail list on the two Google groups, and recently sent out an e-mail.
EVERYONE MUST RESPOND TO THAT E-MAIL! If you have not recieved it or have any questions, contact any officers or e-mail SHSChessClub@gmail.com.
Have a fun three-day weekend.

There are many things now going on within the chess club.
We have recieved clocks which will now be standard in rated games and tournaments. The standard time setting that we will use will be 10 minutes each, no delay.
We have also applied for the Student Alumni Grant with the goal of launching an interscholastic chess organization. If we get the grant ($400!), then our club may play against others from Westboro, St. John's, Worcester Academy, and others! This program will probably take shape next year.
And most importantly, we have a change of advisorship. Ms. Wolfson is stepping down as the Chess Club advisor, to be replaced by Mr. Hruskoci down the hall. Thank you Ms. Wolfson!
Have a fun vacation, and see you again on thursday.

Finally! We got to meet. Fridays seem to be the day for the worst weather.
With Christmas break right around the corner, the Holly Chess Tournament has been postponed, and will take place after the break as the New Year's Chess Tournament. Be prepared.
The Officers have also been typing up a chess club charter, which will be unveiled after the break, as well.
Have a safe and happy vacation.
Kindest regards from all the administrators.

Recently, the InvisionFree SHS Chess Club forum has been shut down. The "Forum" link will now transfer the page to the Google Group for SHS Chess Club announcements.
Please continue to send information to finish the 'About Us' section. You can e-mail SHSChessClub@gmail.com or samvaran.sharma@gmail.com.
Kindest regards from all the administrators.

Sorry about the lack of updating, everyone.
The SHS Chess Club is carrying on successfully, and I trust people are having fun. The forums are alive and active as well.
I guess some more lesson plans have to be drawn up, and after some teaching and practice, time will be ripe for another tournament.
I would also ask each current member to check the 'About Us' section that has been newly updated. Please check that your username, grade and e-mail are all correct. If either one is not correct, or if you would not like a certain piece of information to be on the site, please e-mail SHSChessClub@gmail.com or contact me at samvaran.sharma@gmail.com.
Kindest regards from all the administrators.

Welcome, everybody! After much work, the SHS Chess Club is taking shape, as is this website. I would like to point out that there is a Google Group serving as a mailing list for announcements named SHS Chess Club Announce. You will all be recieving invitations soon. If you do not recieve an invitation, e-mail SHSChessClub@gmail.com addressing this issue.
This site is a nice place to see the latest news (on this page), as well as go to several useful links. On the right are announcements, including the date for the next club meeting. On the left, you can find links to useful sites.
Please e-mail SHSChessClub@gmail.com with your name, grade, and a "screenname" you would like to be addressed by on this website's 'About Us' section. After you gain access to the forums, the first thing you should do is post who you are on the forums' 'Identify Yourself' topic discussion.
So, with that I hope to gain your interest in this chess club. Tell all your friends about it! For more information on how to join, please go to the 'About Us' page or the 'F.A.Q.' page.
Comments, Questions, or Suggestions? Please e-mail to SHSChessClub@gmail.com.
Kindest regards from all the Administrators.
